Love the clickbaitey title haha, I was like WHAAAAAT?!???? But yes, I’ve moved the funds from my non-registered investment account, and set up a TFSA investment account and continued my investing adventures in there. Long story short, not having to pay capital gains makes a huge difference in tax season.

This video seems really off to me - especially the bizarre statement about being in the sun as we age. As I grow older my biggest enemy is direct sunlight and I look forward to retiring north where I never have to endure weather above 55 degrees. I also want to work until I am 99.

How is 20000 tax free from your spouse rrsp if they have no income ? Don’t you still pay 20 or up to 50 percent back to federal taxes no matter what for different amounts pulled for spouse rrsp?

150% after 14 years. People need to reduce their lifestyles and discretionary spending. plus joint last to die estate insurance and joint first to die for the surviving spouse. we can spend an extra 40% of our savings before the first death and its all returned tax free via permanent life insurance bought 25 years ago. You must plan at age 45 and work backwards from death to today to beat the system

I"m 64 & plan on working until I'm 70. I'm delaying my CPP until 70 because I come from longevity & with the cost of living the way it is today, I will need that extra income. It's a gamble no matter what you decide to do. Plus, I want to travel as long as I can. I exercise & try to keep myself healthy so maybe it will all pay off.

Could you do a video about retirement plans for the average retiree? By average I don’t mean the “average” 73K Canadian income. I see videos about retirement and I see plans that aim at 5k or 6k income a month for retirees. A lot of people don’t make even close to that when they are working and don’t have even close to 500k saved up when they retired. So these videos are so misleading. Thanks. Excelent videos good job.

Took mine at 60, if I waited until 65 it would be $300-$400 more per month, but from 60-65 I will amass close to $50,000 . It would take me until I am 72 to make that $50 k back @ $300-$400 per month

The question is at what point do they come out and announce that while you will still have to contribute and an increased amount yearly, that there will be no new applications for the CPP? Grandfathered in. January 01 no new application accepted and a few years later no CPP at all.

Sadly the anxiety is taking its toll now, not retired yet, still working, (don't want to) but have had long periods of time off work as a pre-retirement scenario. Not enough money coming in when off work. And when i do retire, my assets are far below a comfortable retirement. The expenses/ income (cpp, oas, rrsp tsfa) will not hold me long in the near future. No Go-Go phase, can't afford to go anywhere or spend much. So I am in the middle box. In the Anxiety/Depression phase. Hasn't happened yet but it's coming. Damn it Wanda!😟

Retirement becomes truly fulfilling when you possess two essential elements: simple financial resources and a meaningful purpose in life. Make prudent investment choices to secure good returns and ensure a comfortable retirement. My question now is how to get a good financial advisor that I can invest with and have good returns before retirement age.

Anybody who invests usually has a diverse portfolio not all eggs into 1 basket ? I think the govt. would do much better by making the cpp a choice/voluntary. Its not right that both a worker and his employer be forced to invest x-amount of their earnings into a retirement plan they don’t like ? At the very least allow the employee to invest his 1/2 into whatever he feels is the best way while the employer must pay the cpp. Then the employee could have a second back up plan to counter any issues with the cpp in the future.

100% for part-time option. If you're convinced it's a good time to pull the pin, try stepping down to 2 or 3 days a week doing anything you find acceptable. There are low-ish wage jobs that dont create much stress, might keep ya fit too. That 3 or 400 bucks a week is play money, or otherwise useful.
